In May 2010, Acorns Children’s Hospice approached The Affordable Fundraiser with the combined need to raise funds quickly from trusts and foundations and build capacity within the organisation’s fundraising team.  To this end The Affordable Fundraiser swiftly took over management of trusts and grants fundraising for the organisation and over the following months trained a member of staff to do the same.  With this successful combination of external expertise and internal support, the first year’s income target was exceeded, and The Affordable Fundraiser was delighted to work with the organisation for over 6 years.

‘We worked with James for a number of years and the level of success he consistently achieved was exceptional.  Working with a number of our team, James offered support with managing existing trusts, whilst identifying new trusts and helping to compile new and engaging cases for support.  Overall we are delighted with his work and it has added real value to our fundraising efforts.’

International health charity, Arrhythmia Alliance recruited The Affordable Fundraiser in August 2008 to take over management of trust and grants fundraising activity for both A-A and its two sister charities, The Syncope Trust and Reflex Anoxic Seizures (STARS) and The Atrial Fibrillation Association (AFA).  With major applications to international foundations and The Department of Health, supplemented by regular smaller applications to UK trusts, all three organisations had considerable success over the following three years.

‘The Affordable Fundraiser not only met but exceeded targets to increase sustainable income and secure project funding.  Researching and producing high-quality grant applications together with regular updates proved a winning formula.’

The Affordable Fundraiser first started working with Different Strokes in December 2012 at a point when the charity wished to consolidate and build on its grants and trusts fundraising, and free up capacity in-house for service development and delivery.  The Affordable Fundraiser has since established a growing list of regular trust funders for the organisation’s support services, assisted staff in securing a significant grant from the Government’s Local Sustainability Fund, and continues to research new sources of funding for both core and project work.

‘James is great to work with.  He is great at listening to what our priorities are, and has really got to know and understand our charity.  He then combines this with his expertise to find the right trusts and foundations to approach.  He has a great track record at sourcing new potential funders, and has a very high pound raised to pound spent ratio.  I look forward to working with him for many years to come.’

KEMP Hospice approached The Affordable Fundraiser in 2018, seeking to increase income from charitable trusts and grants to support not only its core nursing services but project work with children and carers in the local community.  Income levels have grown ever since with donations secured from both new and past donors.  As a Full-Time client of The Affordable Fundraiser, KEMP Hospice has also received swift and effective support throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, with significant sums raised in support of the organisation’s crucial frontline work.

‘James is a pleasure to work with. He takes control of the trust fundraising process from beginning to end and keeps us regularly updated on potential funds we can apply for. James has identified both national and local trusts with which we have had no previous relationship and secured large grants toward our work. As a small organisation with limited capacity, James has achieved goals with our trust fundraising, which we never would have.’
